Rob Wells is President of Global Digital Business at Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music company.

Based at its headquarters in Santa Monica, California, Wells is responsible for the strategic development of UMG’s digital business worldwide. He is charged with ensuring its continued growth and leadership as the company – and the music industry – continues to make the transition from physical media and embraces new revenue streams. This includes managing relationships with global business partners such as Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Vodafone, Nokia, MSN and YouTube, among others.

Wells reports to Universal Music Group President/COO Zach Horowitz and Universal Music Group International COO Max Hole.

Wells joined Universal Music U.K. in 2000 as the Head of New Media and became Divisional Director, Digital Services two years later. He led a series of initiatives for growth, and was promoted to Senior VP of Universal Music Group’s international division in 2006. He advanced to his current post in October 2010.

Previously, Wells spent eight years at BMG Entertainment in London. Starting in Marketing Services, he worked through various roles to become Head of Internet & New Media in 2000.
