transmitCHINA.TALKS 2009 speaker:
// Archie Hamilton

A seasoned music industry player, Archie cut his teeth promoting djs in London, France and Spain in the early/ mid 90's. A serial entrepreneur, Archie has always been a bit ahead of the curve. From a London based internet listings company in the late nineties to the owner of Europe’s largest freesports and music festival in the Alps in the early noughties, Archie arrived in China 3 years ago with a mandate to bring music to China.

Since setting up Split Works with partner Nathaniel Davis in 2006, the company has been responsible for many China firsts - Shanghai's first international music festival (www.yuefestival.com), China's first international music and arts festival(www.juefestival.com) and the first proper road trip for 2 Beijing bands in 2008 (Converse Love Noise). The company consults for various brands in China (Bacardi, Converse, Vans, Tiger Beer, Smirnoff) and has recently started representing Western and Chinese bands around Asia. Split Works has brought the likes of Sonic Youth, Faithless, Maximo Park, the Go! Team and Jose Gonzalez to China. You can see more at www.spli-t.com.

In summary, Archie is a qualified accountant (cima, 2003), has great experience leveraging music for brands, and is an experienced large/special events operator.
